Different Types of Barcode Labels and Their benefits

Barcodes are used in different industries. The width of the bars, the distances between them, character set, all are converted into electrical signal when barcode reader is moved on barcodes.  These electrical signals represent some data that is of vital use in getting some information about the product. The barcodes can be divided into following categories. Numeric only barcodes –These are the old types of barcodes often used in library or blood banks. The code 11 numeric barcode is used in labeling telecommunication equipments. EAN 8 is a compressed version of the EAN code which is used for small products. EAN 13 is a European retail code. Interleaved 2-5 codes are widely used in air cargo and related industries. Plessey is older code and is mostly used for retail shelf marketing. MSI is other variation of the Plessey code, which is used in the United States. Post net is used by postal services of the United States. UPC –E, this is compressed version of the UPC code for small p
